Switcheroo 4/30/26
We have four owlets now, one egg left to hatch. During the night, the male brought the female one field mouse, one kangaroo mouse, and two crickets. But at the end of the night, there was the partial k-mouse carcass left over for feeding the owlets. When he brought the bird, the female was on her break and he pulled a switcheroo. See if you can catch it in the video.
Mouse Deliveries 4/28/26
More mice deliveries. The female came back from her post-darkness break with a mouse and about half hour later, the male arrives with another mouse. Apparently still very hungry, she aggressively grabs it and yanks him into the box. There were three more mouse deliveries that night for an overnight total of four. The second clip shows the last delivery near dawn and it is a more clumsy handoff. She had four mice each of the previous two nights plus a partial bird one of the nights.
More Eggs Hatching. 4/26/26
Three owlets now. Here’s a clip of the male bringing a mouse when the female is away on her first break after darkness. She had been, as usual, in the box since just before daylight (5:30) the morning before. He doesn’t quite know what to do with it or how to feed it to the owlets, so he leaves it next to them and leaves. The female returns less than a minute later.
First Egg. 4/24/26
First egg hatched! Here’s the first look from both cameras as he’s trying to get out of the egg, and a view about 15 hours later.
