Owlet Growth 2026

We’ve entered the next phase. Almost all of the eggs have hatched, and the owlets are feeding and growing.

More Interesting Meals to 5/16/26

Here are some more owlet feedings, including one that includes both parents in the box at the same time; mom brings a mouse and dad brings a centipede.

Here comes a live, wiggly centipede.

Getting Bigger: to 5/13/26

Mom feeding the owlets the last of a kangaroo mouse, one swallowing a leg and another swallowing the long tail.

Cricket delivery by the male interrupts an owlet playing with a meal he can’t yet eat by himself.

Gratuitous clip of cute owlets getting frisky.

Feeding and Growth 5/7/26

The male continues to bring food to stoke the appetites of the chicks. In the first video, he delivers an unidentified morsel to the nest with some fanfare.

In the second, he brings a mouse while she is feeding the owlets. He bounces around while she mostly ignore him. Finally, he leaves it. The growing chicks are more visible in this one.

Food Deliveries 5/2/26 to 5/4/26

More owlet feedings.

The male drops off an insect (grasshopper or cricket?) to one of the owlets.

Second video shows delivery of a cricket to an owlet who voraciously swallows it, and a minute later another cricket is delivered to another hungry owlet.

In the third, the male is delivering a bird when the female returns and it’s a bit tight in the box for him to turn around and depart. She doesn’t pay any attention to what he brought so he drops it and tries to get outta there.

One egg is still not hatched, likely infertile.
